Have the team (or a set of ten people) stand in a circle. Have them join hands with two people in the circle who are not standing next to them. Give them 5 minutes to unwind themselves into a circle again. Be sure to discuss the activity afterwards pointing out examples of leadership, teamwork, and ingenuity.
Crossing the River
Mark off a certain area of the court or field. Instruct the team that they will have X minutes to travel from one end to the other using a wooden board, mat, or piece of cardboard (the raft). If anyone steps on the ground (the river) the whole team will have to start again. Be sure to discuss the activity afterwards pointing out examples of leadership, teamwork, and ingenuity.
All-Aboard
Mark off a small area with a circle of rope, mat, or use the lines on the field or court. Ask a large group of the team to attempt to fit everyone within that area in a certain amount of time (2-5 minutes). Be sure to discuss the activity afterwards pointing out examples of leadership, teamwork, and ingenuity.
Minefield
Spread out a group of cones or balls in a rectangle roughly 10 x 5 yards (or a space of your choosing). Divide the team into pairs, one of which will be blindfolded. The objective is for the blindfolded partner to be verbally guided from one side to the other without stepping on any "mines" (cones or balls). Allow them a short amount of time such as 2-3 minutes. Stress the importance of communication in the achievement of team goals. Be sure to discuss the activity afterwards pointing out examples of leadership, teamwork, and ingenuity.
